Hello Story Lovers! Today I want to talk about The Lux Series. Spoiler free! As you can see, I was in a Jennifer Armentrout marathon with The Dark Elements and now with Lux. Her writing is easy-going, witty and fun, and after reading the trilogy, I really wanted to explore more about her style and her characters. Hence, The Lux Series.
So, let's jump right into it!

The Lux Series tells the story of Katy, and ordinary human teenager, book lover and blogger (that makes her so cool!) who, after moving to a new town, discovers that her neighbors are aliens (Luxen). And what's worse, she falls head over heels for one of them: Daemon Black.
There are five main books in the Series (There are more, but those, being in a different POV and all, exist just to complete the experience or whatever)
Obsidian
Onyx
Opal
Origin
Opposition
(I've just discovered that all these titles start with an O...interesting)
Anyway, it all revolves around the love story between these two characters and the problems that come when you're in love with an Alien. If I give you a short summary of each book, I'll be spoiling everything to you guys. Let's just put it this way, it's a fusion between Twilight and The Dark Elements but with Aliens.
Ok, gotta talk about the characters first!
The characters are badass, specially Katy. She's the most brave female character I've read so far and that is saying something. I was completely impressed by her mental, emotional and physical strength. Guys...it was mind-blowing. At first, I didn't like her that much (sorry?), but as the story evolved and everything started crumbling and falling into pieces, Katy's growth as a character was eye-popping. For me, that was the best part of these books. It felt good to see her take control and own it!
"Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys."
Daemon...well he's a Roth. Almost same personality. Hot, witty, a duche with a heart. Jennifer really love these type of guys. I mean they are amazing, and interesting and hot! But it does feel a bit repetitive. Getting past this small detail, Daemon is a character that evolves as well, but not as much as Katy. He went from rude-ass Daemon to amazingly-loving Daemon, without loosing his personality in the process.
As to the story...

If I had to describe them with just one word, I would say these books are....sexy. The relationship between Katy and Daemon is super intense and Jennifer loves to take the reader to the depth of it. The Dark Elements where hot, but these books kick it up a notch or two. Just saying.
The books are easy to read and the story follows an organic line, which means there's nothing forced to the narrative. It flows and it feels that everything that happened, was meant to happen. It's interesting and it'll keep you reading, yet it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I have a weird aftertaste that tells me something is missing. Maybe the situation between Katy and Daemon is solved too quickly and after that, everything seems too perfect. We like trouble! I love when a book makes me feel angry, or frustrated or creates that feeling when you know the characters are finally getting together or getting what they want and bam! something happens...or they get to it but then everything falls apart. It's damn frustrating but that's the love/hate relationship I want to have with books.
A relationship I couldn't have with The Lux Series.
If you ask me, I so much prefer The Dark Elements!
So yeah, keeping it short so that you don't get bored reading this, that's that! In my opinion The Lux Series isn't as good as it gets when you eagerly pick up a book, but it's entertaining and easy to read.
For me, The Lux Series gets a 3/5.
But, you know what? Who knows...Maybe you'll like it more than I did!
Your friend,
Camila
